USFS CABIN CHECKLIST

If you chose to go to one of the various cabins around here, there are some things you will need. Since you may be a first timer in Southeast Alaska, we wanted to give you a checklist of things you will need to bring with you for you outting. Some of these things you may bring yourself, and anything else you may rent from a Alaska Wilderness Outfitting here in Ketchikan. They will deliver your items to us so you they will be ready when you arrive. Feel free to give them a call (907) 225-7335.

You will need to bring the following items (or rent these in a kit from Alaska Wilderness Outfitting -- http://latitude56.com/camping/index.html):

  • Portable Camp Stove
  • Fuel for Stove
  • Coffee Pot
  • Pot with lid, a skillet and sauce pan for heating water
  • Cooking utensils, silverware, can opener, sharp knife, fillet knife
  • Towels, dish towels, pot holders, scrubber
  • Dishes, bowls, plates, cups
  • Dish soap, bar soap

These items can also be rented and are highly recommended:

  • Lantern-propane or kerosene
  • Air mattress or foam pad
  • First Aid kit
  • Life Jackets or flotation devices
  • Fishing pole & gear
  • Outboard motor - comes with gas, instructions, spare parts & tool kit.
